ABOUT PASSPOINT ABA
PassPoint ABA is an independent BCBA exam preparation platform built to provide practical, focused, and accessible study resources. The site currently includes practice questions, a full-length mock exam, SAFMEDS, and free study materials designed to give candidates more opportunities to actively work with the concepts they are studying.
PassPoint ABA was created by a practicing Board Certified Behavior Analyst with the goal of developing useful study tools at reasonable prices. The focus is on active practice, clear explanations, and resources that help candidates better understand what they know and where they may need additional study.
Creator of PassPoint ABA
Benjamin Troyer is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Analyst in Virginia. He earned an M.A. in Psychological Sciences with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis from James Madison University.
Before graduate school, Benjamin provided in-home ABA services as a Registered Behavior Technician. He now practices as a BCBA in a clinic-based setting. His experience across direct service, graduate training, and clinical practice informs the development of PassPoint ABA and its study materials.
When I was preparing for the BCBA exam, I found that practice questions were one of the most useful parts of my studying. What helped me most was not simply finding out whether I got a question right or wrong, but understanding why an answer was correct and where my reasoning had gone wrong when I missed something.
I began developing PassPoint ABA while I was still going through the exam preparation process myself and continued building it after passing the BCBA exam on my first attempt and becoming a BCBA. Being so close to that experience helped shape the kinds of resources I wanted to create. I understood firsthand how difficult it can be to decide what to focus on, figure out where your understanding is weak, and find practice materials that actually help you learn from mistakes.
I wanted PassPoint to offer more study materials developed from that perspective. My goal is to provide practical and reasonably priced resources created by someone who understands both the content and the experience of preparing for the exam. The idea is not simply to give candidates more questions to answer, but to help them test what they know, identify areas that still need work, and get more out of the time they spend studying.
I also think exam preparation is most useful when it helps build a better understanding of behavior analysis rather than just memorizing enough information to answer questions. PassPoint is meant to supplement coursework, supervised experience, and other studying by giving candidates more opportunities to practice applying what they have learned.
PassPoint ABA materials are developed with the goal of being accurate, useful, and closely connected to the content candidates are expected to understand for the BCBA exam.
Study materials are organized around the current BACB Test Content Outline so that practice stays focused on the concepts and skills that are relevant to exam preparation.
For Mock Exam A, each question began with a specific topic from the 6th Edition Test Content Outline and was drafted individually. I personally reviewed every question and spent considerable time refining the wording, checking the answer and explanation, and evaluating whether the distractors were reasonable and the question could be interpreted clearly.
The exam was developed one question at a time rather than by generating a large bank of questions and selecting from it. This allowed each item to receive individual attention throughout the drafting and review process.
Definitions, concepts, and explanations are reviewed using sources that are appropriate to the material. These may include the BACB Test Content Outline, the Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts, the BACB Handbook, Applied Behavior Analysis by Cooper, Heron, and Heward, and relevant behavior-analytic research.
During development of Mock Exam A, AI tools were used as part of the drafting and editing process. They helped identify possible ambiguity, improve wording, strengthen distractors, and troubleshoot other potential issues with individual questions.
AI was used as an editorial tool within a question-by-question development process, not to generate large volumes of material without review. I personally reviewed each question, and final decisions about the content, correct answers, explanations, and publication were made through human review.
PassPoint practice questions and explanations are original study materials. They are not actual BACB exam questions and are not intended to reproduce proprietary certification exam content.
The goal of an explanation is not simply to tell someone which answer is correct. When possible, explanations are written to help clarify why the correct answer is the best choice and why other options do not fit as well.
Materials are reviewed as relevant BACB standards, content outlines, or source material change. Feedback about possible errors or unclear content is also taken seriously and can lead to corrections or revisions.
PassPoint ABA uses established behavior-analytic and professional sources when developing and reviewing study materials. The specific sources used depend on the topic and type of resource.
The current BCBA Test Content Outline is used to guide the scope and organization of exam preparation materials and to identify the knowledge and skills that candidates are expected to understand.
Ethics-related questions, explanations, and study materials are checked against the current BACB Ethics Code so that terminology and ethical requirements are represented accurately.
Core behavior-analytic concepts are reviewed using established references, including Applied Behavior Analysis by Cooper, Heron, and Heward.
When materials address certification requirements, examination procedures, or other BACB policies, official BACB guidance such as the BCBA Handbook is used when applicable.
For topics that benefit from more specialized information, relevant peer-reviewed and primary literature may also be used. For example, research on SAFMEDS can help inform explanations of the method and how it has traditionally been used.
Individual products and resources may rely on different sources depending on their content. References are included where they are useful for understanding or verifying the material.
PassPoint ABA study materials are reviewed for accuracy before publication, but educational content can still benefit from ongoing review as standards, source material, and user feedback change over time.
When a page or resource includes a “Content reviewed” date, that date reflects a substantive review of the educational material. Review dates are not changed simply because a page was redesigned, reformatted, or technically updated.
If a question, explanation, definition, or study resource is found to contain an error or unclear wording, the material may be corrected or revised. Relevant resources are also reviewed when changes to BACB standards, content outlines, or other source material could affect their accuracy.
If you believe something may be inaccurate or unclear, please contact support@passpointaba.com. Specific feedback about the question, concept, or resource makes it easier to review the concern and determine whether a correction is needed.
